1. Caspian Tiger :
The Caspian tiger, also known as the Persian tiger, was the largest subspecies of tiger. It once ranged across Central Asia, from the Caspian Sea to the Amur River in Russia, as well as parts of Iran, Afghanistan and India. The Caspian tiger had a thick, lustrous coat that was orange-yellow in color, with narrow black stripes.
The Caspian Tiger became extinct because of the hunting activities of human. Males could grow up to 3.5 meters in length and weigh up to 300 kilograms. Females were slightly smaller, with a maximum length of 2.9 meters and a weight of up to 140 kilograms. Another main reason is because of the loss of habitat.
2. Great Auk :
The birds would build their nests on rocky cliffs, where they would lay a single egg. The great auk was a popular bird for hunters, who would kill the birds for their meat and feathers. The great auk was a victim of overhunting and habitat loss. The bird's colonies were destroyed by humans, and the great auk was unable to adapt to the changing environment.
3. Megalodon :
Megalodon was a massive shark that lived in the world's oceans during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs. The largest Megalodon teeth ever found measure 7.6 inches (19.3 cm) in length. But based on the size of its teeth, Megalodon is estimated to have been 50-60 feet (15-18 m) long, making it one of the largest sharks that ever lived. Megalodon is thought to have gone extinct around 2.6 million years ago.
The Megalodon teeth fossilized had been found in many parts of the World like Africa, North America, Europe. Megalodon is known for it's stealthy approach in hunting. It is known as one the largest marine predator in history. The reason for it's extinction is said that because of the environmental changes and other predators.
4. Formosan Clouded Leopard :
The Formosan clouded leopard is a subspecies of the clouded leopard that is native to the island of Taiwan. The Formosan clouded leopard is the largest of the six subspecies of clouded leopard. The Formosan clouded leopard is characterized by its large size, long tail, and dark coat. The Formosan clouded leopard is an apex predator.
Despite intensive efforts to locate and protect the remaining individuals, the species was unable to recover and has now been lost forever. The Formosan clouded leopard is one of many species that have become extinct due to human activities, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of conservation and habitat protection.
5. Moa :
The moa was a flightless bird that was native to New Zealand. The moa was the largest member of the avian order Dinornithiformes. Moa had a long thin legs, a small head and a long thick neck. Moa is a herbivorous. It fed on the Grasses and Seeds.
They were the largest birds that have ever lived, with some species reaching heights of up to 4 meters (13 feet) and weighing up to 230 kilograms (500 pounds). Moa is one of the bird which is the reason for the dispersal of seeds around New Zealand which helped in creating the forest. It became extinct because the hunting. Moa is the main source of food the Maori.
