World's Extinct Animals part 1

 1. Western African Black Rhinoceros :


                     This is an extinct sub species of the Black Rhinoceros. The rhinoceros weighted from 800-1600 Kg. This species was declared as an extinct in 2011. This species was first found in Central African Republic. This species is a herbivores. Like all the other rhinoceros their common diet is to eat leafy Plant and shoots. 

                          It was believed that the horn of these rhinoceros are having medicinal benefits. Though there is no scientific proof that these horns are containing any special properties. Due to these reasons the Rhinoceros was being hunted widely.  In 1930's many steps were being initiated to protect these species, but still their numbers continued to decline and became extinct. 

2. Pyrenean Ibex :



                  Pyrenean Ibex common name bucardo. This is one of the four sub species of the Iberian Goats or Iberian Ibex. This animal was common in Cantabrian Mountains.  This animal has reached as extinct in January 2000. But still other sub species of this animal have survived. 

                        One of the special characteristics of this animal is their hair grew longer and thicker. The color of male Ibex is Greyish and brown in summer. The population of Ibex is higher in the Middle Ages, Though in 19th and 20th Centaury the population started to decline rapidly. But due to the the hunting of Ibex only a small group survived in Ordesa National Park and Later became extinct.

3. Passenger Pigeon :


  

                             Passenger Pigeon is an extinct species which is endemic to North America. It is widely habitat in deciduous forest in North America. This pigeon constantly migrated in searching of Food, Shelter, Breeding Grounds. This Passenger pigeon is a fast flyer. This Pigeon can reach a speed on 100 Km/hr. 

                             The pigeon food was been commercialized as cheap food and that led to large and wide scale hunting for these pigeons. The pigeons was widely hunted by the Native Americans. The hunting got boosted when the Europeans came into Hunting. This species was divided into three groups and sent over he World. The last confirmed wild bird was shot in 1901. Martha believed that the last passenger pigeon was died on September 01, 1914 in Cincinnati Zoo. This eradication this species is an Anthropocene extinction

4. Tasmanian Tiger :


             Tasmanian Tiger is also known as Thylacine. The native of this species is Australian mainland and the Islands of Tasmanian and New Guinea. The last known live animal was captured in 1930. The species is relatively shy. This species size is general medium to Large Size. Tasmanian tiger is an formidable apex predator. 

                Tasmanian tiger was named to this species because of the evolution of this species. The Tasmanian tiger was vanished from the Australia mainland and new Guinea Island. The Tasmanian tiger became an endemic species of Tasmanian Island. Their main food is birds. This animal genetic diversity starts in Australia mainland long before the arrival of Human that is 70-120 thousand years ago. 

5. Steller's Sea Cow :


         Steller sea cow is described in 1741 by George Wilhelm Steller. It was found in the Bearing Sea between Alaska and Russia. The Steller sea cow was later found and matched the description of Steller and made a publication named "The Beasts of the Sea". 

             The weight of the adult sea cow in the 18th Centaury is 8-10 Tons. It lengths up to 9m(30 feet). After the discovery by the Europeans, this became a slow moving , easily hunted mammal for it's fat, meat and hide. Due to these reason this species became extinct by the human actiities.
